Lynyrd Skynyrd, the legendary Southern rock band, is set to perform at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on Thursday, August 28, as part of their extended 50th anniversary tour. The band will take the stage at Suburban Park at 8 p.m., and the concert is included with the fair's admission fee. Known for iconic hits like "Freebird," "Sweet Home Alabama," and "Simple Man," Lynyrd Skynyrd continues to captivate audiences with their timeless music.

The band, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, has been a staple in the music industry since their formation in the 1960s. Despite a farewell tour in 2019, they continue to tour and perform, drawing large crowds wherever they go. According to Syracuse.com, the current lineup includes Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, and Damon Johnson, among others.

The fair, running from August 20 through September 1, will feature over 40 national acts across its two main stages, Chevy Court and Suburban Park. As noted by the NYS Fair website, the fair offers affordable entertainment, with adult tickets priced at $8, while children under 12 and seniors over 65 enjoy free admission.

Fair Director Julie LaFave expressed excitement about the band's participation, stating, "Lynyrd Skynyrd's behind some of the greatest songs ever written, and that are instantly recognizable." The band's performance is expected to draw a large crowd eager to sing along to their classic hits.
