Priyanka Chopra Admits Mom Was 'So Mad' When She Brought Nick Jonas Home

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is explaining why her mom was "so mad" the first time she brought home Nick Jonas.

The Heads of State actress appeared as a guest on the July 3 episode of Kylie Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast where she shared the story of the very first time she brought the Jonas Brothers musician home and how the unexpected timing of the encounter made her mother, Madhu Chopra, a little upset, per Page Six.

Priyanka told Kelce how she was "sharing an apartment" with her mom at the time when she and Jonas "met in person" ahead of their Met Gala appearance and decided to keep the night going by heading back to Priyanka's place "just to hang out." She told Jonas that her mom was home and possibly awake, getting ahead of any potential awkward encounter.

Or so she thought.

While she may have let the "Jealous" singer in on all the details, Priyanka said she "forgot to tell" her mom of the new plans and that she was "bringing a boy back" after midnight. When the pair arrived at the apartment, they found her mom "laid out on the couch watching [Law & Order] SVU."

"She ran to her bedroom [and] was like, 'You should have told me,'" Priyanka said, adding that her mom was "so mad" and claimed that she was "not coming back out" even as she was "putting on her lipstick."

The Quantico star admitted that even though it wasn't a date and just a meet-up, she thought she blew it.

"We met to kind of see what it was," she said. "Then he gave me a hug at the end of the night, and I thought I'd really royally screwed it up... [He] patted me on the back twice."

Fortunately it all worked out for the couple in the end. After another year of texting back and forth, they finally went on a "proper date and then never stopped dating," and the rest is history. Priyanka and Jonas got married in 2018 and welcomed their first child together in January 2022 via surrogate, daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
