Elon Musk has announced that he's forming his own political party in response to President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill."
On Saturday (July 5), Musk, a former Trump advisor turned critic, said he's officially forming the America Party after the president signed the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" into law on Independence Day.
The move came after Musk shared a poll Friday (July 4) on X, asking his followers if he should create the new party.
"Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?" the poll read.
Out of 1.2 million votes, over 65 percent voted "yes" to Musk's suggestion.

Should we create the America Party?
"By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party, and you shall have it!" Musk wrote, announcing the launch of the America Party. "When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom."

Last month, Musk pledged to form a third party if Congress passed Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," which he's been a vocal opponent of.
"Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" Musk previously tweeted.
Social media users blasted the tech billionaire for forming the so-called "America Party" amid his feud with Trump.
"The 'america party'. A party created and funded by south african born billionaire. The onion couldn't make a better headline," one person wrote.
Astonishingly an apartheid reared South African immigrant billionaire is establishing his own political party focused on forcing American taxpayers to finance subsidies for billionaire owned businesses. The absolute gall of this man.

"He’s just throwing another tantrum as usual when he doesn’t get his way. He 'helped' Trump cuz he wanted Trump to not terminate all those EV incentives cuz he feels it will hurt his EV sales but Trump did it anyway. Now he wants to create a new political party cuz he did all that work and got nothing out of it but a big fat no🙄," another person said.

"Another Billionaire is launching a new political party, to 'represent the common people' LOL Ahhh you couldn’t make this stuff up," a third user noted.
