A Louisiana storm chaser, Rebekah Prevost, had a terrifying encounter with nature when she was struck by lightning on Thursday (July 3) in Baton Rouge. Prevost, a self-proclaimed weather enthusiast, was photographing a brewing storm when the incident occurred. According to The Daily Mail, she had just returned home from grocery shopping with her husband when she noticed ominous clouds overhead. As she stepped out of her car, lightning struck a nearby tree, sending a powerful current through her body.

The lightning entered through her foot and exited from her head, leaving Prevost with bruises, stitches, and burns. Her husband and young son witnessed the incident, with her son, Caden, describing seeing a red flash before his mother was knocked to the ground. "I saw there was this red flash, and then all I saw was her go up in the air," Caden told WAFB. The force of the strike splintered the tree and knocked Prevost unconscious.

Prevost, who joined Carolina Storm Spotters in 2021, is now recovering but still feels jittery. Despite the ordeal, she expressed gratitude for surviving, saying, "I'm hurting, but I'm here and I'm grateful." Her recovery journey is ongoing, with new symptoms continuing to emerge.
