Kelly Clarkson canceled her first Las Vegas residency show at Caesars Palace over the weekend due to a serious issue with her vocal cords.
A "Vegas insider" told Page Six that the "Since U Been Gone" songstress has come "incredibly close" to needing surgery on her vocal cords in the past and did not want to risk further damage.
"She belts out every single note. She’s an incredibly powerful singer, but it takes its toll on her vocal cords and she’s come incredibly close to needing surgery before. She cannot risk damaging her cords further – she’s on thin ice."
In a recent Instagram Post, Clarkson let fans know that she lost her voice during rehearsals and that she would have to postpone her first two shows until the following weekend.
"I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars. The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve."
Clarkson has yet to unveil any additional information regarding her rescheduled shows.
