Married to Medicine star Dr. Heavenly Kimes is seeking political office.
According to PEOPLE, Kimes, a reality TV star, dentist, entrepreneur, and community advocate, is running on the Democrat ticket for Georgia State Representative in District 93.
"I'm not a career politician. I’m a mom, a doctor, a business owner — and I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in," Kimes said in a statement. "I’m running to serve, and I’m ready to work."
Kimes is set to kick off her campaign with a community rally outside the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on Tuesday (July 8) at 5 p.m. The Married to Medicine star said her campaign will focus on healthcare access, economic prosperity, education reform, support for small businesses, and other issues she's been passionate about for years.
"I’ve spent my life helping people build confidence, start businesses, and take control of their futures," Kimes said. "Now I’m bringing that same passion to the State Capitol. District 93 deserves someone who’s not just talking, but doing."
Kimes first joined Married to Medicine on season 2 and became a mainstay on the series known for her no-nonsense candor and humor. Off camera, Kimes owns multiple dental practices and mentors aspiring professionals through her Dr. Heavenly University platform.
The reality star is currently filming season 12 of Married to Medicine. It's unclear how Kimes' political journey will be covered on the show, but her costar, Quad Webb, is serving as her campaign manager.
"Our people deserve real representation, someone who understands both the struggles and the solutions," Kimes said in a statement.
