Skepta Sends Shots At Joyner Lucas Amid Growing International Rap Beef

UK artist Skepta wants to face off with an American rapper in a battle, but when Joyner Lucas stepped up, Skepta shut him down.

The Insomnia rapper took to X last week and told his 1.2 million followers that he wants to "clash an American rapper" so that he can "finally get this UK/US rap debate sorted." Not long afterward, Joyner Lucas discovered Skepta's post and accepted his challenge.

"The moment I’ve been waiting for…😈 say the word, Joyner Lucas vs @Skepta #UKvsUS," Lucas wrote.

"1st 👏🏿 you’re a brave man Jonah," Skepta replied. "How long you been waiting for this moment though?"

Skepta responded to Lucas again in a video he posted to his Instagram Story. In it, he acknowledged that Lucas was the first American rapper willing to go against him, but he ultimately dismissed him. He said that when he drops a diss track for A$AP Rocky, he will only dedicate two bars to Lucas before he lets one of the "young g's" take care of the rest. Skepta later clarified that he has no real beef with Rocky, and even called him family.

"Rap is a sport, same way we have dissing matches on the block we can do it on record," Skepta said.

Lucas reacted to Skepta's response by posting a clip of comedian Aries Spears mocking UK rappers. Skepta responded by writing, "I was wondering who’s perspective you were gonna diss me from, never would have guessed Aaron Spears 😂." As of this report, neither artist has shared diss tracks aimed at each other. We'll have to wait and see who will drop first.
