Federal authorities have called off the search for Travis Decker in Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest after identifying a lookalike hiker. The search began after a family reported seeing a man matching Decker's description near Bear Creek. Decker is wanted in connection with the deaths of his three daughters, Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia, whose bodies were discovered on June 2 near Leavenworth, Washington.

The man spotted in Idaho shared similar physical features with Decker, including height, weight, and tattoos. However, after interviewing the cooperative individual, authorities confirmed he was not Decker.

"That person was totally cooperative," Eric Toms, supervisory deputy with the U.S. Marshals, told USA TODAY. "He was recreating in the woods... hiking and fishing on a hot day and was only there for the day."

The search was subsequently ended, and resources were demobilized.

Decker, a former soldier, remains at large with a $20,000 reward for information leading to his capture. He is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. The U.S. Marshals Service continues to seek tips regarding his whereabouts.
