Clipse is back like they never left. The Virginia-based rap duo returns with their first album in 16 years, featuring their highly anticipated collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.
On Friday, July 11, Pusha T and Malice dropped their brand-new studio LP Let God Sort Em Out via Roc Nation Distribution. The project begins with "The Birds Don't Sing" featuring John Legend. It was the first song from the album that Clipse debuted last year during Louis Vuitton's 2024 Spring/Summer Fashion Show in Paris. It continues with their stand-out track "Chains & Whips" featuring K.Dot, which is iHeartRadio's latest World Premiere.
"The two-time Gemini with the genocide/I'm generous, however you want it, I'll be the gentle kind," Kendrick spits while using his "Gen" rhyme scheme. "Gentlemen and gangstas connect, the agenda of mine/Move n***as up outta here, this s**t get gentrified."
As most fans know, Clipse and Kendrick Lamar's collaboration had a lot of people shook, especially the executives at Def Jam. Pusha T and Malice recently revealed that their longtime label wanted them to remove "Chains & Whips" from their album amid their parent company UMG's legal with their foe Drake. When Clipse refused, Def Jam suggested they buy themselves out of their contract and Push's solo contract. According to the duo's manager, Steven Victor, that's exactly what they did. The move allowed Clipse to sign a new deal with Roc Nation Distribution. Clipse opens up about the situation during their new interview on The Breakfast Club.
Let God Sort Em Out is executive-produced by Pharrell Williams, who also appears on several songs throughout the project. In addition to K.Dot, other artists like Tyler, The Creator, Nas, Ab-Liva, Stove God Cooks and The-Dream also contribute to the 13-track album.
