Social media users are mocking a post from the official White House account that depicted President Donald Trump as Superman amid the premiere of the new movie.

On Thursday (July 10), the White House shared a photoshopped image on social media of Trump wearing a Superman outfit, flying through the air with a red cape.

“TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY,” the meme reads. “SUPERMAN TRUMP.”

The White House's meme comes as James Gunn, the director of the new Superman movie, faces conservative backlash for saying the DC hero was “an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country.”

When asked about viewers who may take offense to Gunn describing Superman as an immigrant, the filmmaker said, “Screw them."

“Superman is the story of America,” Gunn added.

Social media users blasted the White House for likening Trump to the heroic character.

"I never thought I’d see the day when the White House is just a joke. This is so embarrassing," one X user tweeted.

"Superman was an undocumented immigrant," another tweet from California Governor Gavin Newsom's office pointed out.

"This movie — and the character, mind you — stands for everything you hate. it’s anti-oligarch, anti-war, anti-zionist and most DEFINITELY pro-immigrant and for the PEOPLE. anti-fascism to its core. Something the White House does not understand," another person wrote.
