Dozens Leesburg HS Zone Speeding Tickets Rescinded; Camera Enforcement Time Incorrect
(Leesburg, FL) --Dozens of school zone speeding tickets are being rescinded in Leesburg. Leesburg Police say the citations, issued by camera near Leesburg High School, were incorrectly timed -- continuing after students had been dismissed at 1 p.m. Refunds and notification letters are being mailed to those affected.
"Super Speeder" Arrested In Brevard County
(Titusville, FL) -- A man is accused of breaking Florida's new "super speeder" law in Brevard County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday Ryan Samayoa [[suh-MOY-uh]] was arrested Saturday for riding his motorcycle over 100-miles an hour in a 45-zone on the Eau Gallie Causeway. He's also accused of driving with a suspended license. The "super speeder" law took effect July First. Anyone driving over 100-miles an hour or 50 miles an hour over the speed limit could get up to 30 days in jail. Sheriff Wayne Ivey says he hopes this new law makes people think twice before driving at these ridiculous speeds.
Conservative Students Hold Event In Tampa
(Tampa, FL) --Young Republicans and Democrats are making their voices heard in Tampa Bay. Turning Point USA held its annual Student Action Summit over the weekend. The event for young conservatives wrapped yesterday with appearances from Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and actor Rob Schneider. Other speakers in the three-day event included members of the Trump administration and celebrities like Jillian Michaels and Russell Brand. The event also drew protesters, but no violence was reported.
Noem: DHS Looking To Add More Detention Centers To Other States
(Tampa, FL) -- Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says the agency is looking into bringing more immigrant detention sites to other states. Noem held a news conference in Tampa Saturday and said over 286-thousand undocumented people have been arrested so far. Seventy percent are facing charges or have prior convictions. Noem also stated that some 600 individuals have been linked to terrorism.
Florida Highway Patrol Wins 'Best Looking Cruiser' Award; Corvette Seized In Drug Trafficking Case
(Tampa, FL) -- The 'Best Looking Cruiser' award goes to Florida Highway Patrol in Tampa. The agency is the first to have won three times in a row by the 2025 America's Best Looking Cruiser Contest. The photo features its Corvette cruiser settled in front of the Miami sunset. The Corvette was seized in a drug trafficking case.
Lost Lotto Ticket Found By Connecticut Cat
(Somers, CT) -- A Connecticut man is thanking his family pet for finding a lost 150-thousand dollar lottery ticket. Russell Ruff said the winning ticket had been missing for weeks. Ruff eventually found it after his 16-year-old cat decided to crawl behind the bed leading Ruff and his sons to move the furniture. The ticket matched four out of five winning numbers plus the Powerball. Ruff added Power Play making his prize jump from 50-thousand-dollars to 150-thousand-dollars.
