Popular Product Recalled In Florida Poses 'Rare' Health Risk

Chetak LLC Group voluntarily recalled multiple lots of their "Frozen ‘Deep Sprouted Mat(Moth) 16 oz. and Deep Sprouted Moong 16oz." on Wednesday (July 16) due to possible bacteria contamination.

According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the aforementioned products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Defined by the Mayo Clinic as a bacteria that, when consumed, "affects the intestinal tract," the infection can cause a wide range of symptoms including "diarrhea, fever, and stomach (abdominal) cramps within 8 to 72 hours after exposure."

Other symptoms of ingesting Salmonella include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and in serious cases, arterial infections and infected aneurysms. Salmonella infections can be fatal for "young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune system."

Customers should avoid consuming, throw away, or return recalled sprouted beans with lot codes 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292 (Moth), and 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292 (Moong), to the place they purchased them for a full refund. The FDA mentioned that these products were distributed to retail stores nationwide, including locations throughout Florida.
