Katy Perry was serenading the crowd during her latest Lifetimes Tour show in San Francisco on Friday (July 18), when something went horribly wrong.
The "California Gurls" hitmaker ascended the Chase Center on a giant, mechanical butterfly with no idea that the prop was about to malfunction.
Just as Perry was getting ready to sing the "Roar" chorus, the giant metal insect fell, causing her to be airborne for a few seconds. Despite nearly being thrown off the butterfly, a startled Perry paused for a few seconds before jumping right back into the song.
Video footage captured by a fan shows the "I Kissed A Girl" songstress flying through the air as the suspension abruptly lowered and the crowd screamed in unison.
This is not the first time Perry has experienced a scary prop malfunction in front of thousands of fans. Earlier this month, the icon was suspended in a large cage when the same thing happened, and she proceeded with business as usual.
On the topic of unpredictability, in June, a fan unexpectedly stormed the stage during one of her shows and was escorted away by security. Perry, once again, quickly brushed the incident off and continued to sing. By now, it's clear the standout is well-acquainted with surprises.
