Ingoglia Takes Helm As Florida CFO

(Tallahassee, FL) --Blaise Ingoglia has been officially sworn in as Florida's new Chief Financial Officer at a ceremony at the Capitol in Tallahassee. Governor Ron DeSantis praised Ingoglia's conservative record and said he expects the new CFO to aggressively audit local government spending. Ingoglia replaces Jimmy Patronis, who resigned earlier this year to run for Congress. 

Sterns Pleads No Contest To Killing Madeline Soto

(Kissimmee, FL) --Stephan [[STEFF-in]] Sterns won't fight the charges that he killed and raped Madeline Soto in Osceola County. Sterns pled no contest yesterday to killing the 13-year-old last year and sexually abusing her for two years prior. He was sentenced to life without parole. Sterns was charged with first-degree murder, and the plea allows him to avoid the death penalty. Sterns was dating Madeline's mother. She has not been charged, and she was not in court yesterday. Sterns spoke in court and said, "I apologize for the pain."     

Miami Cannot Delay Municipal Election

(Miami, FL) --Miami's municipal election must take place as planned this year. A Miami-Dade circuit judge yesterday denied the city commission's attempt to move the election to November 2026. Commissioners thought moving it would lead to higher turnout, but opponents criticized it as an illegal power grab to give commissioners another year in office. The judge ruled changing the date violated city law and the county charter. The city says it plans to appeal the judge's ruling.

Shark Week Underway

(Undated) --You'll want to stay out of the water and on the couch instead, because Shark Week is back. The Discovery Channel's annual week of programing about all things shark will run each night through Saturday. It's the 37th Shark Week and can be watched on the Discovery Channel or streaming on Discovery+ and HBO Max.
