A shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, on Monday morning (July 28) left two people dead and several others injured. The incident occurred around 7:25 a.m. in the valet area outside the casino. Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance confirmed that officers quickly responded to the scene and shot the suspect, who is now in custody and receiving treatment at a hospital.

The gunman opened fire on multiple individuals before being apprehended. The conditions of the injured remain unclear, but several victims were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve expressed her condolences, stating, "My heart goes out to everyone who has been impacted by the tragic shooting incident." She thanked first responders and medical personnel for their efforts. Reno Councilmember Devon Reese echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the community must not accept gun violence as normal.

"My heart breaks for the victims, their families, and our entire community. Reno is strong — but we are not immune to the epidemic of gun violence gripping this nation," Reese wrote on Facebook.

The Grand Sierra Resort, one of the largest hotel and casino complexes in Reno, was temporarily sealed off by police, who urged the public to avoid the area. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and police are working to piece together the events that led to the tragedy.
