A Secret Service agent is under investigation after allegedly attempting to smuggle his wife onto a U.S. Air Force plane bound for Scotland during President Donald Trump's recent trip. The agent, based in Dallas, reportedly flew his wife to Maryland, where she received a briefing on the trip before being stopped from boarding the plane at Joint Base Andrews. The Secret Service, which was using the aircraft to transport personnel and equipment, had previously warned the agent that such actions were prohibited.

The agent's wife is reportedly a member of the U.S. Air Force.

The incident did not affect the overseas protective operations, as no protectees were on board. President Trump, who was in Scotland for a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the opening of a new golf course, described the situation as "a strange story" and stated that the Secret Service is handling the matter.

This event follows a series of security challenges faced by the Secret Service, including a near-fatal assassination attempt on President Trump in July 2024. The agency has since implemented several security measures to prevent similar incidents. The investigation into the agent's actions is ongoing, and the Secret Service has not disclosed further details about potential consequences.

The Secret Service has launched a personnel investigation to address the incident.
