Can live music help shelter pets find their furever homes? Mission Viejo Animal Services Center thinks so, and we’ve got the inside scoop on Wake Up Call with Amy King. We’ve secured an exclusive interview with shelter director Brynn Lavison to unpack the org's new program, partnering with Texas-based nonprofit Wild Tunes to bring soothing melodies to stressed-out dogs and cats, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Launched by a 12-year-old music lover, Wild Tunes uses volunteer musicians like Kayden Tokarski to calm animals, helping them relax and bond with humans for better adoption odds. “Many of these animals have gone through some really traumatic experiences, so it’s just really beautiful to be able to come together and use music to soothe them," Tokarski told NBC, and Lavison agrees, informing the outlet, “It’s very important for us to have enrichment for the animals here while they’re waiting for their homes, and this is just going to add to that.”
Kicking off August 5, the pet-pacifying initiative will add to the animal center’s enrichment program, and could ease staff burnout while boosting volunteering involvement opportunities.
Tune in to hear Amy King dig into how guitars and lullabies might transform shelter life with Brynn Lavison, live on Wake Up Call. Will this musical experiment find homes for more four-legged friends? Don’t miss the full story on KFI AM 640.
