Braves 12 Reds 11 (10)
Well, that was..........something.....but unfortunately not a win.
Marcell Ozuna's 10th inning sacrifice fly was the decider in a game that will be remembered for years to come.
Trailing 11-3 in the 8th, the Reds (57-53) collected eight consecutive hits and plated eight runs to tie the game.
The Braves had rallied from a 3-0 deficit with eight runs in the top of the 8th off four Reds relievers, to lead 11-3.
Per Elias, it's the third time in MLB history in which both teams scored at least 8 runs in the same inning:
8/2/2007 - Tigers/Rangers and 5/8/2004 - White Sox/Yankees
In the bottom of the 10th, Elly De La Cruz was tagged out trying to advance from 2nd on an Austin Hays grounder to deep shortstop.
Hays was able to advance to 2nd on the rundown. But Spencer Steer struck out and Gavin Lux popped out foul.
The Reds are 2-7 in extra inning games and 12-16 in one-run games.
The Braves entered the game 45-62, including 19-36 on the road. They have their entire season opening starting rotation on the 60-day IL.
The Red committed two errors, including one by Ke’Bryan Hayes....and they failed to make numerous other plays.
Andrew Abbott wasn’t typical Andrew Abbott, walking a career-high tying five batters.
In his debut Ke'Bryan Hayes committed an early two-run error, but jumpstarted the comeback with a three-run 8th inning blast.
