Back To School Sales Tax Holiday Starts Friday

(Orlando, FL) --Florida's Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday starts today. Folks can purchase school supplies, clothing, footwear, and personal computers under set price limits without paying sales tax. The month-long tax holiday runs from August 1st through August 31st. 

Brevard County Sheriff Feels Betrayed By ICE

(Titusville, FL) --Brevard County's sheriff feels betrayed by federal immigration officials. Sheriff Wayne Ivey was reacting to word that ICE is now recruiting his deputies and others across the state. The recruitment letters were apparently sent this week to deputies and police officers who went through immigration enforcement training. Ivey tells Channel 9 he thought the training was so his office could be partners with ICE not a recruiting depot.  There are reports of other sheriffs in the state having the same issue.  

AG Bondi, Sen. Moody React To FSU Video

(Tallahassee, FL) --A video recorded at Florida State University is getting attention in Washington, DC. US Attorney General Pam Bondi and Senator Ashley Moody reacted to the video yesterday. It shows a woman saying "[[bleep]] Israel, Free Palestine" and then shoving a Jewish student at the Leach Student Recreation Center. FSU says the woman is now banned from campus, and FSU Police are investigating. Bondi says her office is investigating, too. She says anti-Semitism will not be tolerated in Florida or anywhere else. Moody says anti-Semitism has no place on our college campuses.  

Miami Celebrity Stylist Accused Of Soliciting Teen

(Miami, FL) --A Miami celebrity hair stylist is accused of soliciting his 15-year-old client. Ryan Pearl is facing several charges, including traveling to meet a child, electronic transmission harmful to minors, contributing to the delinquency of a child, and cocaine possession. The teen's mother reported the inappropriate messages after searching her social media accounts. Pearl was arrested following a sting operation involving an undercover officer who posed as the girl. He apparently showed up to meet her with drugs, vapes, and condoms.

Cruz Backs Sweeney  (Washington, DC) --Actress Sydney Sweeney, who is part of a controversial ad campaign, has an unlikely supporter in Senator Ted Cruz. The Texas Republican blasted who he called the "crazy left" for their criticism. The advertising from American Eagle uses the tagline "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans." Critics say the wordplay brings up visions of Nazi eugenics, which suggested humanity could be improved through selective breeding. The fashion brand said in a statement that the campaign meant to "push boundaries."
