The Weekend: Great Comedy, Giant Balloons, Pickin', and Dinner by The Ocean

August 4, 2025

Well the weekend started off with a bang!

Friday after the show I had my yearly "Employee Review" - you know, where you have to "self-evaluate" your performance, and then they tell you how off the mark you are!!! Haha- anyway, it's part of the job I guess. Our company preisident - for our region- who is very cool, asked how I thought I was doing. My answer: "Well, I've always got things I can work on, for sure- but........I mean, I show up on time, I do my job, I try to minimize the bullshit, and - I always put the seat back down in the bathroom...".

And that, my friends- is how I've kept a job for 40+ years - hahah....

Serious question though - who schedules that shit on a FRIDAY? hahaha-

We started out the weekend at the Casino Ballroom with the big Jimmy Cash/Jimmy Dunn show, and it was a blast! It was cool watching our buddy Jimmy Dunn up there on the big stage in his own home town! Huge thank you to everyone that came out that night to show the love! Here's some pre-show pics from backstage!

Valerie and I with (back row left to right) our friend Lorraine, Jimmy, Gary, and Andy and Sarah Herrick!

Minutes away from showtime with the legendary Tony V - who hosted the night, Jimmy Dunn and Jimmy Cash. They all crushed it and it was a fun night!

Me with Jimmy Dunn and our mutual friend Jim Roach- who just happens to be an awesome guy, who is also the executive producer of every Buzz Christmas Ball we've ever done! He's a master promoter and a hell of a cook too - "so he's got THAT goin for him, which is nice..."

The next morning I was out at 430am to grab the sunrise launches at the Pittsfield Balloon Rally in Pittsfield NH!

It's such a cool way to start the day. They're quite, and relaxing to watch, and the day was perfect for it!

Saturday afternoon, late- we took Arnie- my Dad - out for dinner. He tells me - "You know, I've never told anyone, but I've slept in a place where you could rear real lions and tigers roar....."

I was, like - "What? You've never mentioned that you went to - what? Africa?"

Dad says - "Nope. The circus used to come to Manchester when I was a kid and I've lived right next to the field they put the tents up in! Could hear the friggin lions and tigers all night!"

Good story, Dad! :)

Adding to the exciting weekend was my Saturday night-

Finished Netflix's "Untamed', starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill. Roadkill was right, it's pretty damn good!

Sunday we hit the farm for some blueberry picking! Our local farm for fruit is Butternut Farm in Farmington/Rochester- and let me tell you - the blueberry season is awesome!

Valerie hits the bottom of the bushes. My philosophy in life has always been - "When they go low, I go high!"

So I stood and picked like a madman. Really sweet harvest this year! #SupportYourLocalFarms

Then it was home and yard stuff. Had to give ol Johnny Deere a little shower! Yep! As I like to say, "He likes the motor clean, he's not a fast machine, but he's the best damn mower that I've ever seen..."

(I just wrote that by the way. Pretty good lyric for a song, don't you think?)

And we ended the weekend with an awesome sunset dinner on the water at Pepperrell Cove in Kittery Point Maine with our friends Janet and Mike-

Good food with good friends, and absolutely PERFECT weather. That's how you end a weekend!

Hope you had a good one too-
