A few of the stars and athletes who've visited Magic City in Atlanta over the years have gathered to discuss the iconic venue's legacy in music and culture for a brand-new documentary.
On Monday, August 4, STARZ dropped the official trailer for its upcoming docuseries Magic City: An American Fantasy. The five-part experience features appearances by executive producer Jermaine Dupri, Drake (who also serves as a producer via his DreamCrew Entertainment), and Quavo, who credits the famed strip club for helping launch his infamous rap trio Migos.
"It wouldn’t be a Migos without Magic City,” Quavo declares in the trailer.

“It’s one of the wonders of the world,” Drake adds. “Magic City became this place for people to flourish, Black music to flourish.”
The docuseries will provide a thorough history of the revered establishment from its inception in 1985 through the lens of Magic City's founder, Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney, and his previous employees. It'll also explain the club's impact on Southern Hip-Hop throughout the 90s and the 2000s. NBA star Shaquille O’Neal, T.I., 2 Chainz, Nelly, and Big Boi also appear in the doc to detail their rare experiences inside Magic City.
“Magic City: An American Fantasy is a riveting behind-the-curtain look at one of the most unique places in Black culture,” Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at STARZ, said in a press release. “The docuseries’ unprecedented insider access and history unveiled from those who built its empire is a perfect complement to STARZ’s slate of adult, culture-driving shows.”
Magic City: An American Fantasy originally premiered last year at SXSW. The first episode is scheduled to air on STARZ on August 15.
