Gunna is getting ready to drop his sixth studio album this week.
On Monday, August 4, the Atlanta native announced the release date and assumed cover art for his forthcoming LP The Last Wun. In his announcement, Wunna included photos of himself morphing into a wicked art piece crafted by Devon DeJardin. He also posted a visual teaser, which shows clips of him recording the album, a glimpse of the tracklist, and a video of his younger self saying he wants "longevity" in the rap game.
"I want longevity in the game, to be honest," Gunna says. "I love this s**t. I love rapping."
Gunna has been hyping up his next project for the past few months. Soon after the success of his previous album One of Wun, the 32-year-old artist dropped his single "him all along" and followed up with "Classy Girl" alongside Turbo. He kicked off the summer with "Won't Stop," which has held fans at bay since June. Soon after debuting the track, Gunna announced the album's title and explained its meaning during an interview with will.i.am.
“It’s not a theme or a concept," Gunna said about the album. "When I create, I kind of go with how I feel. I might approach an album not knowing the title yet, and it will form. The title will come to me just through life and through living. For this album in particular, there’s no theme — it’s just in the current time of what’s happening to me.”
