Trump Plans $200 Million White House Ballroom Addition

August 6, 2025

President Donald Trump has announced plans to build a new, privately funded 200-million-dollar ballroom at the White House. According to the Press Secretary, construction is expected to begin next month and is anticipated to be completed before the end of Trump’s second term in 2029.

The new addition will be called the State Ballroom and will be able to host up to 650 guests, which is more than three times the capacity of the current East Room.

The ballroom will span 90,000 square feet and is being paid for entirely through private donations. It is the latest in a series of upscale renovations, including changes to the Rose Garden, updated flagpoles, and gold-accented interior trim.

Critics have compared the overall design to the style of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Supporters argue that the new ballroom will enable the White House to host larger state dinners, events, and celebrations without requiring off-site locations.
