Jon Pardi debuted a “breezy, cinematic” visual to bring one of the nostalgic tracks on his fifth studio record to life on Monday (August 4).
The Grand Ole Opry member released “Hey California” — written by Jordan Minton, Ben Johnson, Hunter Phelps and John Charles Reno Prentice — on Honkytonk Hollywood earlier this year. The song “blends classic country storytelling with a radiant West Coast vibe,” reads a press release issued Tuesday morning (August 5). Pardi filmed the storytelling video on the cost of his home state, and ended up with “a breezy, cinematic journey from the Golden State, infused with ‘70s-style sophistication—dreamy vocal stacks and atmospheric guitars setting the tone.”
“All my albums have been rock and roll with a country flare – this one keeps on rockin’,” Pardi said when he released Honkytonk Hollywood. “It’s also the most grown-up record I’ve ever made, all my soul basically. ‘Honkytonk Hollywood’ is for the Nashville that’s in my blood and it’s also a nod to my California roots. And right now, more than ever, I hope it’s a way to honor and lift up the people of my home state.”
