It's the moment we've all been waiting for. The Las Culturistas Culture Awards have finally arrived, drawing in musicians, actors and notable stars who have made an impact in pop culture. However, there were some who skipped out on the big night and hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers hilariously called them out during the show.
On Tuesday (August 5), Yang and Rogers mourned the absence of celebs who "passed on" attending the LCCA during the show's In Absentia segment because "they had other s--- to do." The hilarious bit was a twist on the typical awards show's more sober In Memoriam segment that honors all of the industry professionals who had passed away in the previous year.
As the dynamic duo gave a moving, pitch-perfect performance of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," a video montage of various celebrities paid tribute to "our friends who wanted to be here, but not bad enough."
Some of the famous faces called out include Billie Eilish (wouldn't do dress code), Lady Gaga (Bowen too thirty), Sabrina Carpenter (busy woman), Yang's Saturday Night Live co-star Sarah Sherman (went missing), former First Lady Michelle Obama (too good for this), Pedro Pascal (hates the spotlight) and Chappell Roan (guinea pig emergency).
There were even videos from a few celebs sharing the reasons they couldn't be there in person, such as Will Ferrell, who was busy hanging out in Majorca, Troye Sivan, who "wanted to come to your awards so bad but not as badly as I wanted to be on a boat in the Balearic Islands in Spain, b----," and Anne Hathaway, who cheekily said, "Bowen, you b----. I'm not over it. That's why I'm not there! And Matt knows exactly what I'm talking about."
Lucy Dacus also made a surprise appearance, joining in with Yang and Rogers to end the tribute after it had stated she "never followed up" with them about the show.
The Las Culturistas hosts previously detailed all the nominees for the fourth annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards on their podcast, from "most iconic building or structure" and "best vibe hands down" to "kindest greeting" and "worst sticky feeling."
On Las Culturistas, Rogers and Yang "get into the hottest pop-culture moments of the day" and even hang out with special guests like Sarah Jessica Parker, Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, to name a few. Check out more episodes of the Las Culturistas podcast at iHeart.com.
