Barefoot Thief Caught on Camera Swiping e-Bike from Garage

The burglary happened early Tuesday morning at a home in Cape Coral, Florida. Brenda Waun said she had left her garage door open for just a few minutes to let some air out before getting ready to go to the store. That's when a man approached the house, entered the garage, and rode off with her newly purchased e-bike that was placed in the garage. Now she says she doesn't feel safe in her own home.

“That’s the sad thing, it’s not like we weren’t home,” said Waun. “The vehicles are here, and you have the nerve to walk up. Are you that ignorant that you can't even see the camera?”

Security footage shows the man barefoot, calmly walking up the driveway before riding off with the bike. Cape Coral police confirmed to Gulf Coast News that they are investigating and actively searching for the suspect.

Brenda’s husband, David Elizondo, said he’s now planning to add more security measures.

“If I’m not going to be here, something’s going to happen regardless,” Elizondo said. “But at least if I have more cameras, we’ve got more footage and more area to cover. Maybe we can pick up more stuff that police officers can use in their investigation.”
