DeSantis Wants New Congressional Map For South Florida

(Miami, FL) --The Congressional map in South Florida is due for an update. That's the word from Governor DeSantis who points to a "population explosion" and racial gerrymandering. The Governor says the Biden Administration admitted to making mistakes in the 2020 census that cost our state another congressional seat.

Plane Crashes In Volusia County

(Ponce Inlet, FL) -- A pilot is OK after a plane crash in Volusia County. It happened yesterday in Ponce Inlet in the water near Disappearing Island. The pilot was the only one onboard. There's no word on a cause.

Orange County Elections Supervisor Admits Mistake Was Made On Sample Ballot

(Orlando, FL) --Orange County's elections supervisor is taking the blame for a mistake that affected thousands of sample ballots. About 90-thousand sample ballots that arrived at homes over the weekend showed the wrong Democratic candidate for the State House District 40 race. Instead of RaShon Young's name, the sample ballot had Travaris McCurdy's name on them. A spokesman for Elections Supervisor Karen Castor Dentel says the mistake was made during artwork creation for the printing process. He adds Castor Dentel's office takes full responsibility. New sample ballots will be sent. Meanwhile, early voting is due to start on the 23rd.  

Sanford To Explore Fire Fee

(Sanford, FL) --A city in Seminole County is looking at a new way to support its fire department. The Sanford City Commission met yesterday to discuss charging a fire fee. It would help fund future personnel needs and equipment. The city hopes the fee would raise about two-and-a-half million dollars a year. Commissioners voted to move forward with the plan. Property owners can expect letters that'll explain how much they'll have to pay. News 6 reports a vote could come next month.

Seminole County To Discuss Gas Tax

(Sanford, FL) --Gas prices could be going up in Seminole County. The county commission will meet today to discuss raising the gas tax by five cents a gallon. The revenue is expected to pay for road, transit and infrastructure projects and SunRail. If approved, the tax would take effect in January and last for 50 years.   

Scott, Moody Applaud Trump DC Move

(Washington, DC) --Florida's senators are applauding President Trump's move to reduce crime in Washington, DC. Trump announced yesterday he was placing the Washington, DC police department under direct federal control. He's also deploying National Guard troops to the city. Trump says this will restore order and reduce crime. Senator Rick Scott says crime in our nation's capital is out of control, and this will keep families safe and Make DC Safe Again. Senator Ashley Moody says Trump continues to show relentless focus and determination to deliver and get things done.      

Survey Finds Almost Half Of Gen-Z Would Pick Cash Over Love

(Undated) --Love is overrated, if you ask Gen-Z.A new dating survey by matchmaking service Tawkify says 46-percent of Gen-Zers would choose long-term financial stability over romance and almost one in three said they'd even take back an ex if that ex got rich. The survey also found that one in ten Gen-Z women say their ideal match should make 200-thousand-dollars or more and most won't settle for less than 80-thousand-dollars.Millennials on the other hand have no problem with a "broke and magical" relationship with 59-percent choosing love over financial security.  Most Gen-Zers also won't date anyone without a job with 46-percent saying they wouldn't date someone who's unemployed, even if they found them attractive.
