Taylor Swift is a mastermind when it comes to subtly teasing new projects, and her new album is no exception.
Swift announced her 12th album The Life of A Showgirl on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, as revealed in a teaser that dropped at 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12. The episode itself airs 7 p.m ET on Wednesday. Her official social team Taylor Nation then shared an Instagram post 12 minutes later showcasing several orange looks she wore throughout the Eras Tour, per People.
While the new clues about her 12th album are obvious to eagle-eyed Swifties, hints about the record formerly known as TS12 have seemingly been around for months.
When Swift revealed in May that she had re-acquired the masters to her first six albums, she included 12 "i"s while writing the word "thiiiiiiiiiiiis," which Swifties are now looking back on as yet another clue of her new era.
As mentioned earlier, she switched up some of her costumes throughout her record-breaking tour to include sparkling orange styles, which appear to coincide with the color scheme for the The Life of a Showgirl. Swift's website now features the album, with the cover art still blurred, decked out in mint green and glittering orange.
When the Eras Tour ended on December 8, 2024, she told fans she would see them "next era" before leaving the stage through an orange door. It should also be noted that 12/8 is the inverse of 8/12, when she announced the new album.
One fan also pointed out that Swift wore an orange and green plaid outfit on August 12, 2024, while out in London, exactly one year before she announced the album, while others have noticed that she has strayed from her signature red lip to a more orange hue.
Swifties also analyzed the books in the background of the teaser for Swift's New Heights appearance that they think connect to the new era, from a book about the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who died August 12, 1988, to a photography book full of cat photos, People reports, purr-fect for known Swift who is a known cat lover.
