President Donald Trump bashed what he referred to as the "unfair" media for "constantly quoting fired losers," specifically targeting former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, ahead of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage scheduled to take place on Friday (August 15).

"Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin. Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, 'Putin has already won.' What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING. The Fake News is working overtime (No tax on overtime!). If I got Moscow and Leningrad free, as part of the deal with Russia, the Fake News would say that I made a bad deal! But now they’ve been caught. Look at all of the real news that’s coming out about their CORRUPTION. They are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our Country. But it doesn’t matter because we are winning on everything!!! MAGA," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account Wednesday (August 13) morning.

Bolton was among the critics bashing Trump for welcoming a "rogue leader of a pariah state" ahead of his summit with Putin, who he said would attempt to "take advantage" of the president. Trump will participate in "a listening exercise" with Putin in Anchorage on Friday, which will give Trump "the best indication of how to end this war and where this is headed," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday (August 12).

"I think this is a listening exercise for the president," she said. "Only one party that's involved in this war is going to be present. And so this is for the president to go and to get, again, a more firm and better understanding of how we can hopefully bring this war to an end."

Additional details are still being worked out between the two sides, however, Leavitt said it was "part of the plan" for Trump to meet with Putin in-person. Zelenskyy, who isn't expected to attend the summit, said his government was "preparing certain steps to further mobilize our partners" in a post shared on his Telegram account.
