BabyChiefDoIt is stirring up plenty of conversation after he admitted to using AI to help him write his songs.

In an interview Power 105.1 posted on Monday, August 11, the 17-year-old rap star explained how he used ChatGPT to cook up his verses. He said he gave the AI tool just four bars and asked it to write a song. The AI bot responded by asking BabyChiefDoIt to start it off. After he gave the program some more bars, ChatGPT went to work and cranked out a song for him.

"I've been using that to write my lyrics real s**t," BabyChiefDoIt said. "That s**t works."

Since the interview dropped earlier this week, critics have been chastising the young artist's decision to rely on ChatGPT to write his songs. Some believe the practice will kill off creativity in Hip-Hop at a faster rate. Other critics said they don't condone using chatbots to make music, much like Young Guru and his supporters argued when Timbaland began experimenting with AI. Still, there are some people out there who think the move will only help artists in the future.

BabyChiefDoIt said he only downloaded the Chat GPT app recently, but he's managed to amass plenty of success without the AI-driven technology. Following his debut project Animals Only, the Chicago native has impressed fans with his viral hit "WENT WEST" and his stand-out performances at festivals like Summer Smash. Earlier this year, BabyChiefDoIt dropped his second album Zoo Life featuring collaborations with Babyfxce E, Warhol.ss, Luh Tyler and more.
