The Cleveland Browns apparently plan to keep all four quarterbacks on their roster once the final 53-man group is set on Tuesday (August 26).
Browns general manager Andrew Berry said he expects veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, as well as rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, to make the final 53-man roster ahead of the team's Week 1 home opener against the AFC North Division rival Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday (September 7).
“Honestly, it’s not much of a decision for us. All four guys have done what we’ve asked,” Berry said via the New York Post. “… We have a room that we like all the guys in there. We don’t really see that as a problem. We more see it as an opportunity.”
Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer cornerback Deion Sanders, his head coach at the University of Colorado and previously Jackson State University, has been the player most closely watched during the preseason, having been projected as a first-round pick by many before falling to the fifth-round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Colorado standout threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 17 of 29 passing in the Browns' preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, but was limited to just 14 yards on 3 of 6 passing in Saturday's (August 23) game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Dillon Gabriel, who was selected two rounds ahead of Sanders, threw for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 25 of 37 during the preseason, which included 129 yards and one touchdown on 12 of 19 passing on Saturday.
