Bravo! Italian Kitchen and Brio Italian Grille's parent company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in a little over five years, USA TODAY reports.

Bravo Bio Restaurants LLC, which owns 25 Biro Italian Grille and 23 Bravo Italian Kitchen restaurants, had already closed seven locations before filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida on August 18, citing "the acute financial distress" across the restaurant industry, specifically mentioning other popular chain restaurants Red Lobster, Tijuana Flats, TGI Fridays and Hooters, having already taken a similar course of action. Earl Enterprises, which owns Planet Hollywood and several other chains, acquired the Bravo Bio Restaurants locations in June 2020, two months after the company filed for bankruptcy for the first time.

Bravo Brio Restaurants is seeking "to improve its financial position as it brings on a new investor" through the bankruptcy proceedings, according to a news release obtained by USA TODAY.

"The Chapter 11 process will allow the Company to quickly and efficiently reorganize its business for a sustainable and successful future, including closing underperforming locations, restructuring debt, and streamlining and reducing operational expenses," the news release states.

A spokesperson for the company said there aren't current plans to close any locations in a statement to TODAY.com.
