Timbaland has responded to Bryson Tiller's claim that the veteran hitmaker told him to quit his job to work on music, and then ghosted him.
In a statement he made to The Shade Room on Tuesday, Timbo admitted that he did encourage Tiller to leave his job, but he maintains that he didn't "abandon" him like some people believe.
"Bryson is a great guy, and at that moment I remember me telling him he had to quit his job, but at that moment I was so highly focused on Tink because I didn't know if Bryson really wanted to be an artist," he explained.
"Bryson is one of the illest writers and talented guy that I know," he continued. "He was with my man who's working with me at the same time who's managing him — Rich — so I always try to put him in the right space even if I wasn't in the right space, if you know what I mean? Because my focus was mainly on Tink."
"He didn't have 'Don't' when I met Bryson," he added. "He's like me — we don't try to be in the limelight and I knew that, in this business, you gotta be ready to go or you'll get run over and at that time, I just saw a talented kid, but I didn't know if he really wanted to be a full-fledged artist, but I knew he was talented. I did tell him to quit his job, and after he quit his job, he came up with 'Don't,' and that was the biggest record of his career. I think Bryson is one of the best artists out there and as you can see, he really don't like being an artist, which I knew back then."
The conversation began after Bryson Tiller told the story about his first experience working with Timbaland during his recent appearance on New Rory & Mal podcast. After the episode dropped, one blog in particular chopped up his explanation and made it seem like he was dissing Timbaland for leaving him out to dry after the producer told him to quit his job to work on music.

"Malicious Media," Bryson wrote in the comment section of the post. "smh I can’t wait for yall to play BRUTAL INDUSTRY!!!@trapsoulgames."
Timbaland said Bryson called him and warned him about the interview. Nonetheless, the Beat Club founder gave Tiller his flowers and declared that he's "one of the best artists out there."
