How AI is Changing Everything

The headline on a lead story by Axios this week read: “It hits everything, everywhere.”

“It” is AI artificial intelligence and the story is about how AI is changing everything everywhere.

The Axios report says AI is advancing rapidly every few months ad not only is every product and service vulnerable to AI, so is every step and part of producing and providing it.

It suggests that AI is threatening what the report calls a job apocalypse with the possibility that it will wipe out half of entry level white collar jobs.

A report in the New York Times this week said that based on interviews with experts and recent computer programming science graduates and looking at a trend of massive tech industry layoffs, it does appear that AI is gobbling up jobs.

Another report this week told the story of one recent computer science college graduate’s only job offer was from Chipotle. A story that apparently is becoming more common among these smart computer grads who thought they’d be getting a six-figure salary coming out of college and instead are working at fast food places.

With experts predicting that artificial intelligence will become even more widespread, it might be a smart move for some incoming college freshmen to make a wise choice when it comes to careers.
