Retired former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce said he's "hoping" to be the best man at the future wedding of his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift, after the couple announced their engagement last week.

“We’ll see,” the elder Kelce said during an appearance on the Bussin' with the Boys podcast this week. “Trav has a lot of friends, I’m just hoping to get the opportunity.”

Jason, 37, had previously noted that Travis and Taylor, both 35, were "unbelievably supportive" of each other, at which point the show's co-hosts, former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, both joked that it sounded like he was giving a "best man speech." The elder Kelce also said he "never lost hope" that his brother would find love as he's a "great" and "unselfish" person.

“i know my brother’s intentions and who he is,” he said. “Everything he does would lead to him finding someone for all the right reasons and more.”

Jason also praised his future sister-in-law, revealing why he believed she was the one for his brother.

“She fully understands why Travis is an incredible human being. To watch them support each other, love each other and get to this stage, I’m very happy for them," he added.

Swift announced her engagement in a joint Instagram post with Kelce featuring several photos of the proposal.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," she wrote in the caption of the post, which had more than 28.7 million likes in less than 24 hours.

The engagement reportedly took place two weeks prior at a garden at Kelce's home in Lee's Summit, Missouri, his father, Ed, told ABC News 5.
