Blue Jays 12 Reds 9
It was one of those nights at GABP. Unfortunately, it was also a losing night for the Reds
The Reds and Blue Jays combined for 14 runs…. ...in the first two innings.
The Reds trailed 4-0 and 8-1, before battling back to 8-6 in the 2nd.
In the 4th, the Jays went up 10-6 and the Reds answered to make it 10-8.
Trailing 11-9 in the 8th, the Reds (70-69) got the tying run to the plate with one out, but that would be it. The Jays added another run on a Jose Trevino passed ball in the 9th.
Austin Hayes jacked a three-run homer, had two hits, drove in four, and scored twice. George Springer homered twice, including his 62nd career leadoff shot. He had three hits, a walk, three runs and three RBI.
The Jays clobbered four long balls on the night.
Meanwhile, the Mets hammered the Tigers 12-5, so the Reds fall five games out of the third Wild Card with 23 games remaining.
