Sean Kingston is opening up about his next move after he was sentenced to serve over three years in prison.

In an interview 103.5 The Beat's Papa Keith posted on Wednesday, September 3, the "Beautiful Girls" singer said he feels more connected to God after he and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted of wire fraud charges. Kingston, born Kisean Anderson, said he "needed this" to "get back on the right track." In addition to improving his life, Kingston also said he spent a lot of time in the studio before he was sentenced and plans to release some new music soon.

"I got so much records in the vault," Kingston said while on the phone in prison. "Right now, I'm sitting on, like, 30-40 records. Before I got sentenced, I made sure I was in the studio every day working hard. So I've got some exclusives for you."

Kingston hasn't released an album since he dropped Road To Deliverance in 2022. Since then, he won a Grammy alongside Chris Brown, Lojay and DaVido for writing "Sensational." Kingston dropped his previous track "Louder" last fall, which was a few months after he and his mom were arrested on wire fraud charges. The Jamaican-born artist and his mother were convicted on all charges back in March. Janice Turner was sentenced to five years in prison, while Kingston will only serve three and a half years with three years of supervised release. Speaking of his mom, Kingston said he's able to see her throughout the course of their sentence.

"I can see my mom," he explained. "They got a conference room here so you get to see your mom if your mom is in the same building and doing the same time as you. I can see her every 20 days so it's been a blessing."

Kingston doesn't plan to be locked up for long. His attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, recently filed an appeal to overturn his conviction and reverse his sentence. In addition to contesting the final ruling and releasing new music, Kingston also revealed his plans to tell his side of the story in his first book. He wrapped up the call by claiming that "the truth will be told."

"Do not believe the fake narrative," he concluded. "It's a lot of stuff that I did, a lot of stuff they did. The truth will be told. I'm writing a book. I've got a lot of stuff coming. New music, new projects. I'm here for a little bit, but not for a long, long time."

Sean Kingston and Janice Turner are currently being held at the Federal Detention Center in Miami.
