Lady Gaga is expressing her most "sincere regretful apology" after canceling her show at the last minute.
The "Dead Dance" singer was scheduled to hit the stage in Miami for her Mayhem Ball show on Wednesday (September 3) but ultimately canceled the show minutes before it was set to begin due to a "significant risk" of damaging her voice. She shared a lengthy note to her Instagram Stories explaining her "agonizing decision," telling fans that she was advised by a doctor as well as her vocal coach not to perform.
"During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight my voice was extremely strained and both my dr and vocal coach have advised me not to on because of the risk it poses," she wrote. "I want to be hardcore and just push through this for you but I don't want to risk long term or permanent damage on my vocal cords. There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours and as you know I sing live every night — and even though this was a hard and agonizing decision I would be more afraid of the long term implications on my voice."
Knowing how excited fans were to attend the show, Gaga asked for their forgiveness and offered her "sincerest apologies for any disappointment, let down, inconvenience." She also noted that the show is postponed rather than canceled completely and that her team is working on rescheduling for a later date.
"I am so so sorry I tried so hard to avoid this I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show," she said. "I love my fans so much, respect you and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology. We are trying to reschedule the show as quickly as possible."
The news comes nearly two months after Gaga took an unexpected tumble on stage during her Mayhem Ball show in Las Vegas; however, she quickly recovered like a pro and continued on with the performance.
