Riley Green showed Jimmy Fallon how to use a duck call in a hilarious moment on The Tonight Show on Thursday (September 4).

The Alabama-born country star caught up with Fallon days after delivering the deluxe edition of his latest studio album Don’t Mind If I Do. Throughout their conversation, Green chatted with Fallon about his headlining “Damn Country Music Tour,” has love of football, how his grandfather inspired his appreciation for the genre, reminisced on the earliest songs he’s ever written (“probably something I’m horribly embarrassed of”), and more.

"Last time you were here, I don’t know if you remember this, but you gave me a duck call,” Fallon recalled.

“Of course I do. Of course. I wrote it in my diary that night, so I remember,” Green said as the studio audience laughed. He clarified, “a duck whistle would be, like, what they instruct ducks to do at the Peabody (hotel) in Memphis, when they cross the street. That’s a duck whistle. …It’s a duck call.”

Fallon asked Green — who said he uses a duck call at every show — whether he could “show me how to do a duck call?”

“I just feel like, and I may be mistaken here, but it would be more fun if you tried it first. Because I think there’s a 50/50 chance you blow in the wrong end,” Green replied. When Fallon first attempted to use the duck call, Green said, “wrong end. Yeah, I think that’s the wrong end. That’s the wrong end.”

The audience cheered and applauded when Green demonstrated how to use a duck call on The Tonight Show.

On Friday (August 29), the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award winner released six new tracks on his deluxe studio album. He performed one of the new ballads, “Make It Rain,” after chatting with Fallon on The Tonight Show. That addition to Green’s Don’t Mind If I Do chapter carries “emotional weight,” per a press release from his record label. Watch Green’s interview here, and watch his performance below.
