Israel conducted a strike targeting senior Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday (September 9). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operation aimed at those responsible for orchestrating attacks against Israel, including the brutal October 7 massacre. Explosions were heard across Doha, with smoke seen rising near Al Wahda Arches and Pearl Gateway Towers.

The strike was described as precise, with measures taken to minimize civilian harm.

In response to the strike, the US embassy in Qatar issued a shelter-in-place order for its facilities, advising US citizens to remain indoors. An Israeli official confirmed that the United States was informed prior to the operation.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, calling it a "blatant violation" of international law and accusing Israel of reckless behavior that threatens regional security. Qatar reported that residential buildings housing members of the Hamas political bureau were targeted, and described the attack as "cowardly" and a "criminal assault," as reported by CNN.

The strike marks the first known Israeli operation in Qatar, a country that has not been directly involved in the ongoing conflict. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated that the operation was conducted independently by Israel, emphasizing that terrorists will not have immunity anywhere in the world.
