A Texas woman, Joni Thomas, 62, has been charged with tampering with evidence after a butt-dial voicemail allegedly exposed her involvement in disposing of a body. The victim, Rana Nofal Soluri, a 47-year-old flight attendant, was last seen in March. Thomas is accused of assisting Dennis William Day, 66, who allegedly confessed to strangling Soluri during an argument in his Fort Worth home.

According to an arrest affidavit, Day called Thomas after the incident, and she arrived in her pickup truck to help transport Soluri's body to Bowie, about 70 miles away. They allegedly dumped the body off a bridge. During the investigation, detectives found a voicemail on Thomas' phone that captured her and Day struggling to move a heavy object. The recording included phrases like "Hey … help me," and "Make sure the lid’s on."

Initially, Thomas denied any knowledge of the murder, claiming Day hadn't used her truck. However, she later admitted that Day had used her vehicle and that she accompanied him, though she claimed to have been asleep for part of the drive. Investigators found that both Day and Thomas left their phones at Day's home to create a false alibi, as noted in the warrant.

Thomas was arrested on August 26 and released on bond, while Day remains in the Tarrant County Jail on a $200,000 bond, charged with murder. Despite searches, Soluri's body has not been recovered, and officials fear flooding may have moved her remains downstream.
