Deadly Wrong Way Crash In Brevard County
(Titusville, FL) --A wrong-way driver is blamed for a deadly eight-car crash in Brevard County. It happened yesterday morning on I-95 North near North Wickham Road. FHP says a Toyota Corolla was going the wrong way when it hit a Chevy Impala. The chain reaction involved six other cars. Three people died at the scene. Troopers say the driver of the Corolla was a 34-year-old Cocoa woman. The driver of the Impala was a 34-year-old Holly Hill man, and his passenger was a 46-year-old Holly Hill woman. Six others were hurt, but all are expected to survive.
Blue Lake Elementary School Teacher Arrested Over "Planting A Bomb" Comment
(Volusia County, FL) -- A spokesperson with Volusia County School District says Blue Lake Elementary School teacher Armando Arends has been arrested for making false reports of planting a bomb. Arends made the comment Thursday to someone off campus and officials say there were no threats made to students or the school. Arends is being held without bond. His first appearance is scheduled today.
2 Teens Facing Felony Charges For Making Threats To Schools In Volusia
(Volusia, FL) --A spokesperson with Volusia Sheriff says two teens are facing second-degree felony charges after sending threats to their schools. Deltona High School student Xavier Pineda used his school-issued laptop on Friday to threaten that he would bring a gun to school and shoot another student. That triggered a Gaggle alert. At River Springs Middle School, student Jasper Kessell drew an AR-15-style rifle on his desk along with a date and time. Both students complained about being bullied.
Two Wanted For Breaking Into Volusia County School
(Deltona, FL) --A search is underway to find two people who broke into a school in Volusia County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday the two broke into Friendship Elementary School in Deltona and vandalized the media center. Surveillance cameras caught two people identified as persons of interest. Deputies posted photos of the two on social media. Anyone who recognizes them is asked to contact the VCSO.
Protests Continue At Pulse
(Orlando, FL) --A recent incident is raising safety concerns as protests continue at the Pulse nightclub site. One man was apparently assaulted Saturday while protesting the state's order to remove all street art. The alleged victim says he was punched and kicked while holding a Pride flag. Those who gathered at the site yesterday say it makes it even more important that they continue to express themselves. One woman tells WESH 2 we can't allow this hatred in our community.
