When And Just Like That... came to an end last month, it wasn't just fans of the Sex and the City sequel series that were left blindsided — even the cast "didn't know" the show wouldn't continue past season three.

Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York on both the original SATC series and its revival, admitted during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Wednesday (September 17) that she was surprised when it was announced that AJLT was ending after three seasons, per People.

As host Drew Barrymore reflected on hearing that AJLT was canceled and ending after the conclusion of its third season, she said she wondered if it was true that the cast — which also includes OG stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) — also didn't know it was coming to an end.

"Definitely true, didn't know," Davis confirmed, adding, "Our commitment that we had made was a three-year commitment to each other, so we knew that part. But I just assumed that we were gonna keep going. That's how I am, you know what I mean?"

Showrunner Michael Patrick King revealed August 1 that the spinoff series of the groundbreaking HBO show would conclude at the end of the third season, which was still airing at the time of the announcement. Following the news, the show's stars reflected on their years-long journeys with their characters and working with the cast and crew.

"Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years," Parker wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post. "I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion."

"It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives," Nixon said in her own post while Davis thanked fans for their support and praised "our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love."
