The New York Giants will reportedly start rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in Sunday's (September 28) game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo on Tuesday (September 23).
Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who went winless as a starter in the Giants' first three games, will serve as the backup, according to Rapoport.
"The future is now: The #Giants are making first-round rookie QB Jaxson Dart their starter, per me and @MikeGarafolo. After just a short stint starting and an 0-3 record, Russell Wilson heads to the bench. The Giants had a package of plays for Dart. Now, they’ll unleash it all," Rapoport wrote on his X account. "Russell Wilson is expected to serve as the backup."
