Teenager Detained Following Mass Shooting At Playground That Injured Five

A 15-year-old boy has been detained for questioning following a shooting that left five teenagers wounded on Monday night (September 22) at the Commissioner's Corner apartment complex in east El Paso, Texas. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. local time near a playground, according to Officer Adrian Cisneros, a spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department.

Authorities reported that the shooting took place during an altercation involving a group of teenagers. Officer Cisneros mentioned that a male suspect began firing into the group, injuring three males and two females aged 15 to 17. A video capturing the sound of rapid gunfire surfaced on social media, but the exact number of shots fired remains unclear.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old girl, is in critical condition, while the other four sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The police have asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

The detained 15-year-old suspect is still being questioned by authorities. The El Paso Police Department continues to investigate the incident and has not yet confirmed any charges against the suspect.
