God’s Thumb – OR Coast – Lincoln City

This is one of my favorite hikes of all time! The trailhead is in a residential area and it’s got nature trail vibes at first. Then you walk further into the woods where you’ve got some steeper areas and there is a point where you have to leave the original trail to get to the thumb, so just look for the signs. This portion of the trail is unmaintained, but it's heavily trafficked and clearly marked. It eventually opens up into a less wooded area and shortly after you'll get your first glimpse of the ocean. The trail to get up onto the thumb is a little sketchy. It’s steep and it can be muddy. But the payoff is incredible with panoramic views of the coast.

3.8 miles out and back – elevation gain of 971ft – classified as moderate but if you don’t hike much it can be strenuous at times.
