Given the seduction of end-times promises of a better world to come, a true dedication to and belief in eschatological narratives can mobilize people like no other ideology, while “justifying” virtually any act to protect, preserve, and accelerate the arrival of paradise — including extreme measures, violence, and even genocide.

There’s an extraordinary coercive power to this "Last Days" thinking, especially when weaponized as a political tool to influence and manipulate the faithful.
