Jenevieve isn't your average R&B singer, and her new single proves it.
The 27-year-old crooner recently delivered her latest track, "Head Over Heels," produced by Elijah Gabor. The ethereal love song opens with tranquil chimes and an incredible bassline before Jenevieve mesmerizes fans with her soothing vocals. "Head Over Heels" is one of several standout tracks from her new album CRYSALIS, which dropped last month.
"Still fallin' head over heels," she sings. "Tried to call but you missed me, you missed/I wanna show you a way out/Can I show you a way out?/Baby, why you doubt?/Thе fire is burnin'."
Born in South Florida, Jenevieve was raised by her Cuban mother, who introduced her to the sounds of soul legends like Erykah Badu, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, and Anita Baker. She began writing music at the age of five but focused more on dancing at her grandmother's studio in Miami. She didn't truly tap into her musical talent until she relocated to Los Angeles in her teenage years.
It was tough,” she said about her early years in L.A. “I got picked on a lot—for being so tall, having big hair. It was hard to make friends.”
Jenevieve embraced her passion for music after she joined her mom's church and delivered a holy version of 2Pac's "California Love." From there, she began working with a series of producers until she met her current beatmaker, Elijah Gabor. The producer helped develop her sound into what it is today.
Jenevieve broke into the industry with her debut songs "Medallion" and "Baby Powder," which led to her first deal with Interscope Records. She dropped her debut project, Division, in 2021. She continued to work with Elijah on songs like “Eternal,” “No Sympathy,” and “Résumé." Jenevieve followed up with her six-track EP, Rendezvous. The project helped her land the opening slot on Giveon's "Give or Take Tour" in 2022.
"It was my first time on the road,” she said about the tour. “I learned about stage presence, self-care, and got so much love from fans.”
