Reba McEntire hinted at potentially stealing a contestant on The Voice after Michael Bublé blocked her during the blind auditions.
Rob Cole, 34, returned to The Voice after auditioning for the show during its 25th season. He returned with a powerful rendition of Chris Stapleton’s “Joy of My Life” during the latest episode to air from the show’s 28th season. Bublé was quick to block McEntire from vying for the North Carolina singer. Cole also earned praise from coaches Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan.
“I love you so much that I blocked you. That’s the respect and admiration I have,” Bublé said. “When I heard your voice, I knew I could not allow Reba to be in the competition with me.” He added later, “honestly, dude, I love country music so very much. …I’m pumped.”
McEntire teased, “we’ve got a little thing called ‘steal.’ Look out!”
“I love to encourage,” McEntire said of The Voice in an interview with iHeartCountry earlier this year. “I can’t tell anybody, ‘Don’t do this. Go get a job. You’re not suited for this.’ But the way that we get to do the – I don’t say critique – advice, it’s helpful advice. It’s not tear-down. We want to lift up. We want to inspire. We want to encourage, not tear down. They get enough of that out there in the world.”
