10/6/25 Blog: The Colorado GOP Chair On Today at 2:30
October 6, 2025
GOP CHAIR BRITA HORN JOINS ME AT 2:30 To talk about the latest nonsense happening in the party. Now two messages have been sent to the Secretary of State's office about what happened at the meeting two Saturdays ago. We'll find out from Chair Brita Horn what is actually going on at 2:30. This as a new poll shows that Republicans have a chance to capitalize on anti-Democrat feelings in the state right now.
CAN WE JUST HAVE A MINUTE ON YESTERDAY'S BRONCOS GAME? Holy COW! What a game! That's it, that's the minute or you can read more here.
MAYOR MIKE IS SELLING HIS VIBRANT DENVER BOND And why anyone in Denver would trust this Mayor with MORE money is beyond me, but the polling in the early stages looks like they will. Axios Denver reports on the sales pitch here, but where it the Mayor getting almost a million dollars to spend on ads? Oh, it's campaign DONATIONS which I bet come from every organization that will benefit from this bond. Just saying. Read more here, but c'mon Denver, we can do better than this. No more debt to pay for things that the regular budget SHOULD have been spent on. You're paying the price for deferred maintenance because they spent all your money welcoming illegal immigrants. Again, just saying.
WE'VE CAPPED DRUG PRICES IN COLORADO And this should be fun to watch. Some drugstores are already indicating they could not carry the drugs like Enbrel which are being capped because they would essentially be eating the cost of these very expensive drugs. I get what Colorado is trying to do, I really do, but this isn't going to work the way they think it's going to work. And the lawsuits have already been filed and more are expected. What I predict in the short term are problems getting the drugs at all in Colorado for patients who rely on them for pain relief. We'll see what the long term holds.
AN "APPALLING" TRIP that's what the Ethics Board calling the all expenses paid trip to Barcelona that a bunch of airport employees went on. They aren't wrong at all. What's appalling is the cavalier way DIA CEO Phil Washington seems to have dismissed concerns about the cost ot business class tickets along with the rest. It goes to show that these people have never bought a business class ticket with their own money. Of course nothing will happen to them, but now we know the trip is "appalling".
THERE'S A NEW ELWAY DOCUMENTARY Watch more about it here.
HOW TRUMP BROUGHT HAMAS TO THE TABLE I want to be clear I will not believe that Hamas is going to do any of the things they say they are going to do until they are done. Full stop. They lie, they obfuscate and they don't do what they say they are going to do when it comes to Israel. But it seems like we may have the beginning of a deal and this story says you have to give it to Trump for using other Arab nations to pressure them this time. He went around the usual suspects to bring in multiple players that are bringing pressure in a way that hasn't been brought before. Read this part:
In the first Trump administration, senior adviser to the president Jared Kushner held the Israel-Palestinian portfolio and assumed major responsibility for Gulf Arab diplomacy. Kushner operated based not on a theory of Middle East politics but rather with a view to the accomplishment of two primary goals: Resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by means of a two-state solution, and enhance relations with pro-American, moderate Gulf Arab monarchies.
Kushner failed to achieve the first goal. His team drafted a comprehensive peace plan in consultation not only with Israel but also with America’s Gulf Arab partners; the Palestinians declined to cooperate. The plan envisaged the establishment of a Palestinian state and called for tens of billions of dollars of Gulf Arab investment in it. In January 2020, Kushner unveiled the plan at the White House. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately agreed to it as the basis of negotiations. Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas swiftly rejected the plan.
Going back to what I said about not trusting Hamas at all I think this is the most progress we've seen towards a somewhat lasting peace near Israel. We're not remotely "there" yet but in my lifetime I've not seen this sort of resolve from Arab nations to put this to bed. We'll see what happens next. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he wants the hostage home so they can deal with the rest of it later. I think that is a bad idea but we'll see.
ABOUT THAT SAUDI COMEDY FESTIVAL We touched on this briefly when I took a comment by Dave Chappelle out of context (shame on me and thanks to the listeners who gave me context) but this story is NOT going away. At a time when we are having free speech conversations in the US it seems ironic that comedians went to a place with NO free speech to do a bunch of shows for big paychecks. Now, I don't begrudge them big paychecks, but for me, Saudi Arabia doesn't have enough money. Their human rights record is terrible, they still treat women like half a person, and their justice system is jacked up. So are comedians like David Cross, who is still mad about this, justified in their judgment? Or is this much ado about nothing?
HAPPY COLUMBUS CABRINI DAY! It's Columbus Day in most parts of the country where we have a day for the guy who we mistakenly thought had discovered our continent for European exploration. But alas, his discovery brought all manner of disease to the land and therefore he must be cancelled. In Colorado we celebrate Mother Cabrini Day, in honor of the nun who created an orphanage for girls a while back and did good things and found water where there was none. What's the real story? I had my assistant Chat GPT give me a paragraph:
Mother Cabrini, born Francesca Saverio Cabrini in 1850 in Lombardy, Italy, was the first U.S. citizen to be canonized as a saint. Frail in health but strong in faith, she founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to serve the poor and teach children. After being encouraged by Pope Leo XIII to go “not to the East, but to the West,” she traveled to New York City in 1889 to help Italian immigrants struggling in harsh conditions. Over her lifetime, she established 67 institutions—including schools, hospitals, and orphanages—across the United States and the world. Her work also brought her to Colorado, where she founded the Queen of Heaven Orphanage in Denver and later established a mountain retreat in Golden, now home to the Mother Cabrini Shrine, featuring the famous staircase she and the orphan girls built by hand. Known for her tireless compassion and organizational genius, she became a symbol of faith in action and the patron saint of immigrants. Mother Cabrini died in Chicago in 1917 and was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1946.
I'm surprised the Freedom From Religion people haven't popped their heads up on this one yet.
THIS FEELS LIKE HOW REAL CIVIL WARS START ICE is in Chicago doing enforcement stuff and they are being targeted by violent, armed people at the same time. And the Chicago PD is being told to NOT assist them when they call for help. Not help with immigration enforcement, help from the mobs targeting them. The Governor of Illinois is saying this isn't true, but this HotAir.com story brings receipts. It reminded me of this post on X that is haunting me:
I was talking to a friend who grew up in Yugoslavia. He’s about ten years older than me and recently moved back to Serbia. "What struck me about his recounting of the years just before the war began was the sense of banality, a kind of timelessness. Despite all the vitriol, it didn’t really feel like anything was going to happen right away."
Is that where we are now? It sure feels like it. Especially when you see stats like this.
The Left today justifies political violence at a rate 5x higher than the Right: 25% of “very liberal” and 17% of “liberal” (42%) vs 6% of “conservative” and 3% of “very conservative” (9%) pic.twitter.com/au5NESgSus

CAN CBS NEWS BE FIXED? Well if it can, I hope Beri Weiss is the one to do it. The woman who left the New York Times to start The Free Press has not only gotten a tidy chunk of change for The Free Press but also has been named Editor In Chief at CBS News! Here is the letter she sent to staff today and I hope she can pull this off.

If we can get JUST ONE network news channel without an agenda it could move the rest of them in a similar direction. Here's hoping she can inflict her will on them rather than the other way around.
COSTCO IS SELLING WEIGHT LOSS DRUGS NOW And they clock in at just $500 a month for Wegovy and Ozempic. Read more here.
ALL OF OUR WELCOMED IMMIGRANTS JUST LOST THEIR PROTECTED STATUS As the Supreme Court ruled that the President now can undo the proclamations of the President THEN and remove the Temporary Protected Status of Venezuelan immigrants. What does this mean for the immigrants who are here? They should probably self deport if they want any chance of coming here legally. I'm sure the NGOs can help with this, they've got tons of money.
ABOUT 16TH STREET It fully re opened this weekend with much fanfare, but this column says the fanfare isn't really worth it. If you want to know what's really wrong with Denver read the first letter to the Editor in this story. It was written by a longtime now former resident of Denver who had come back to visit. Hooboy, just check this part:
During our five-day stay at a downtown hotel, we were struck by how difficult it had become to navigate the city. A combination of significant homelessness, convoluted bike and bus lanes, pervasive construction cones, and light rail traffic created a chaotic environment.
Few people seemed to use the bike lanes—with their concrete dividers—leaving us wondering how city workers manage snow removal in the winter. Scooter traffic was another concern; many riders ignored traffic rules, often riding against traffic, on sidewalks, or even in the street without helmets. At one point, we saw two people riding a single scooter down Colorado Boulevard in traffic.
Confusing signage for cars, bikes, and light rail only added to the disorder downtown. We also noticed that public green spaces were poorly maintained and lacked regular upkeep.
Yes, sir, the Denver you loved for so long is gone, replaced by homeless hotels and bike ballasts.
OUR BELOVED FORT IS BEING SOLD And I don't blame Holly Kinney, she's been at this for her entire life and deserves to retire in peace. All I can say is I hope the new owners don't screw it up. Read more about who is buying it here.

YOUR KIDS JUST GOT ASKED ABOUT THE GENDER AND SEXUAL IDENTITY Depending on what district they were in the questions were invasive and none of the school's business.
I’m told this questionare was just given to kids without parental knowledge in many Colorado schools, asking kids if they’re trans or gay and their gender identity

@lisaremillard #presidenttrump #america250 US Treasury issues “first draft” of potential commemorative $1 coins to honor America’s 250th birthday next year. The draft shows the coin will feature the fact of President Trump on both the head and tails side. But federal law prohibits the minting of any coin that features the face of any living president.
